  • Hablar de acciones transitorias.
    • Example: We are studying unit five this week (Esta semana, estamos estudiando la unidad cinco)
  • Planes de futuro con expresiones temporales que aludan a ello.

Present Simple

USOS

  • Expresa realidades (Warm air rises - El aire caliente sube) o permanencia (Her parents live in Madrid - Sus padres viven en Madrid), así como acción habitual, es decir, hábitos o rutinas en la vida cotidiana (I get up late on Sundays - Me levanto tarde los domingos o I eat a lot of fruit - Como mucha fruta)
    • Hace falta el verbo auxiliar do: I don't (do not) live in Madrid (No vivo en Madrid). Do you speak Spanish? (¿Hablas español?).
    • El auxiliar do toma la forma does para la tercer persona singular: She doesn't speak French (Ella no habla español). Does he live in Madrid? (¿Vive él en Madrid?)

Ejemplos:

Afirmativa: I speak English and French (Hablo inglés y francés) - She speaks English and French (Ella habla inglés y francés)

Negativa: I don't (do not) smoke (No fumo) - He doesn't (does not) smoke (Él no fuma)

Interrogativa: Do you speak Spanish? (¿Hablas español?) - Does she speak Spanish? (¿Habla ella español?)
